The Challenge

With the national focus on de-escalation and use of force police training, the Criminal Justice Program at Stebbins High School's Career Technology Center saw an opportunity to implement modern law enforcement training and prepare future officers. For the current school year, the criminal justice program planned to redesign and modernize its criminal justice center by providing its students with the Apex Officer virtual reality simulator.

The Solution

The Stebbins High School Criminal Justice Program chose to include the Apex Officer X2 Pro Training simulator as a major component of its program for criminal justice students. This will allow students to set a foundation of positive community policing, de-escalation, use of force, and implicit bias skills before beginning their law enforcement careers.

The Results

For over 50 years, the Career Technology Program at Stebbins High School has been helping students find their place in the ever-changing workforce. Now, the future police officers of Ohio will be better prepared for real-world split second situations. Community members from across the state will benefit from this new tool available to students attending Stebbins High School.
